Your Boss Must Provide Space for You To Nurse
February 3, 2012 8:12 pm Education NewsUnder California and federal law, employers are required to provide employees a reasonable amount of break time to nurse. Employers must also provide a safe and private place.
Employers are allowed to take time out of a worker’s rest break time and have the right to make additional time unpaid.
For location, employers must provide nursing workers a private space that is near the workplace. The designated nursing area cannot be a restroom stall.
In addition, nursing workers are protected under California and federal law up to a year after the child’s birth.
